It had been far too long for Jackson. He ached to be on the road to greatness, he longed to find a way to get his self serving mission on track. He lightly ran his index finger over the Pokeball that held his new Charmander and smiled. Jackson was sure he'd make his family proud by becoming one of the best Pokemon trainers in the world. He would make his family name better once he took on every single Elite League all over the world and made a name for himself- for his family.
But the only way he could do that would be to get used to his new partner.
Stopping under the shade of a wide leafed tree, Jack let Rojo out. She was every bit a fiery, edgy Charmander, but there was something else about her that made Jack smile, like she wasn't going to try and fight for his attention. He liked that a lot. He motioned to her and began walking.
"C'mon. Let's see if we can't find something to fight out here."

A Wild Sentret has Appeared! Female - Level 3 - Keen Eye - Scratch + Foresight + Defense Curl
"Sen?" Something was going on. The brisk autumn air had left most of the Region sleeping in late, as the Pokemon population didnt want to leave their cozy nests. Sentret on the other hand had to forage and store food for the upcoming winter, because if she didn't there wouldn't be any food to wake up to! She fumbled the acorns in her arms, dropping them heavily into the growing stash by a pretty large rock, before she heard approaching feet. Oh no! Dropping all the acorns in her arms at the base of the rock, she hopped over it and behind it to peek out. She hoped the incoming Charmander and it's trainer wouldn't find her or her acorn stash!
"Sh-!" Jackson gasped, half surprised to see a real life Pokemon just - out in the wild. Sure, he had seen Pokemon all his life through television and from his siblings and generally trained Pokemon, but he never had the chance to really see them out in the wild like this. He lightly grabbed Rojo's arm and held her back, watching the Sentret watch them. It was very interesting to say the least. He then released his Charmander's arm and motioned to the hiding Sentret. "Tackle it." "Chaar!" Agreed Rojo, and she charged at the little Sentret, eyes gleaming to impress her trainer.

Oh no. She squealed as Rojo ran at her, and she tried in vain to duck out of the way, but the Charmander's claws found their way through her fur and down to her skin. Oh no! She huffed, flipped onto her tail and tried to puff her chest out, but she wasn't all that intimidating. With a battle screech she charged at the Charmander with her own claws extended, aiming to hit the fire lizard with a scratch of her own.
"Rojo!" Jackson winced as the Sentret bounced back and scratched his Charmander. Okay, this wasn't how he thought his first battle would be going, but of course, he couldn't always know how it would all go. He was just a new trainer with minimal to no experience in the field. "Shit." He sighed, and looked down at Rojo as she looked up at him, really raring to do. "Scratch it again, and aim for it's face!" Jackson commanded, and smiled slightly when Rojo nodded and charged at the Sentret once again, claws aimed to rake down the ferret's face.

The Sentret screamed as it was attacked, lurching back from the sharp claws of the Charmander took another part of her out, scrambling back and away from the Charmander as its trainer. Crap. This wasn't at all how she wanted this to go! She should have gone straight home! She wasn't strong enough for this kind of battle- not against a Pokemon that clearly didn't care if she was knocked out or forever scarred! She huffed, and curled tightly into a ball in the middle of the route, using Defense Curl. Hopefully this would distract or disarm the attacking Charmander long enough to get her some time.
